"Coolest Sedan I have ever owned"

I traded in my 2010 Cadillac CTS-V for this car and i couldn't be happier. I loved my V but this car is everything it was plus some. Its faster, better built, and the drive quality is far better on the road or track. It's quiet and mellow when your cursing, but mean and angry when you want it to be. With 415 hp you can do anything you want. When i take it to the track it sticks extremely well in the corners and acts like it was built for the track, yet i can drive straight to the highway and have the versatility of a calm quiet sedan. The brembo brakes stop you on a dime and the corvettes 6.2L v8 pushes that car from 0-60 in less than 4.8 seconds and to a blistering top speed of 160+ mph.

Critical Review

"Worst car I have ever bought."

I bought this car in March of 2015 as a 2014 model. We negotiated at the dealer; they gave it to me for $40,000. For a new car, that was a great deal. Until I got it home. Shortly after, I started getting recall letters every other month. For things like the air bag not working, front suspension links loose, tape unreeling from wiring harness near the differential, rusted front rims, front seats not welded properly, the front seat belts not working properly, front left drivers headlight filling up with water, water leaking through the window frames etc. Then about 2 years later; I started to hear a loud rattling sound coming from under the car. Couldn't figure out what it was. Took it to the Dealer since it was still under warranty. They called me back the next day; said that the flywheel had come loose. What a piece of junk. Not to mention the performance was junk also. I did 0-60 times in the 6 second range repeatedly. Any six cylinder car can do 6 second 0-60 times easily. That's why the Chevy SS doesn't push you back in your seat because the torque comes in until way at the top of the rpm range. Since then, I got rid of this so called SS Performance Sedan which doesn't deserve that name unless you want to be beaten by a 6 cylinder vehicle. I got rid of it and got me a real performance sedan that does 0-60 in about 4.2 seconds thank you.

Fast grocery getter
Pros

Fast and easily, somewhat cheap to upgrade engine

Cons

No magnetic ride and no rear wheel Brembo brakes.

Bought my Hot 2 SS with 4999 miles on it. It now sits on 21000 miles and drove every other week 12 miles over 10 miles. Real fun and enjoyable car to drive. Will never sell it, Well !!!!

Amazing sedan - a Corvette with four doors!
Pros

Everything.

Cons

None.

This car was built in Australia, before all the pandemic nonsense, and before GM stopped building Cadillacs et. al. there. Fit and finish is as good or better than the Mercedes, Jaguars, Cadillacs, and many other current model cars I have owned over my past 60 driving years. Fantastic car~!

Two hour milk runs are common in the SS.
Pros

Fun to drive, Roomy, Unique, Fast

Cons

Temptation is there for triple digit speed!

Sleeper car is only an understatement when the car is off. Anyone within earshot of one of these cars when the accelerator is firmly depressed knows instantly that there is something very different about that sedan that; at first glance could’ve been a Chevy Malibu with nice wheels. The SS is loaded with creature comforts like heated and cooled seats, suede accents, power everything and a heads up display (with a G-meter and shift light), and built in 4-G LTE. The performance you can wring out of this almost 4000lb. sedan is remarkable. 12.7sec. quarter mile and 0-60 in less than 5 sec. This thing will get you the side eye from the wife while the kids in the back are encouraging more engine sounds. The Chevrolet SS is the modern day equivalent of the 1970 454 SS Chevelle. Aside from a few recalls (nothing actually failed or broken), I’ve never had any problems with the car. I’m on my second set of tires on the 6yr old car and besides oil changes, it may be time to replace the original battery. The SS has been a very reliable and well built car.

It's a keeper
Pros

High on perform without dressing the part.

Cons

No AWD option but does ok in light snow.

Bought our 2014 SS new & have 108K fun filled miles on it. I was planning on buying a CTS-V or Charger SRT but after driving all 3 the SS was the winner for me. 7 years later still enjoy the car as much as day 1. Still looks/drives like it did when we got it.

A smile every drive
Pros

Fun factor.

Cons

Fun factor....and that infotainment screen...

A large, comfortable sedan with a loose backend. It demands attention. Its major flaw is the infotainment system. It can be maddening. But honestly, that isn't the point of this car. Driving this car you spend your time holding on and giggling at how it behaves. It provides all the entertainment you will ever need.
