Positive Review

"Saved a Life"

This car, although it may look deceiving, as in protection because it's such a tiny vehicle, withstood the damage and protected the driver from a T-Bone collision with a Ram 2500 Truck towing a camper. All of the air bags were deployed instantly and protected the driver from the side impact. OnStar called immediately after the collision and dispatched the police/ambulance. This car was totalled, but we're planning on buying the same exact car to replace it. Cheap price for excellent quality!

Critical Review

"Avoid"

Many Spark owners on various forums are reporting multiple issues with their virtually brand-new Sparks, including engine trouble needing replacement engines, engines burning quarts of oil weekly, air conditioner problems (not getting cold), etc. Look elsewhere.

2013 a fantastic car !
Pros

42 mpg hiway at 65 mpg. 70 maybe 38 mpg

Cons

rough ride for long distances. Great for city.

This year 2013 had to "old" tranmission which is very solid. 237K miles no problem with any of the drive train. My 2016 has the new transmission and that transmission does not shift properly with 200K miles on it and replacements have a minimum gurarantee.

Favorite Car and Lifesaver

I had a Chevy Spark for four years and would have had it much longer had I not been in an accident. I was in a highway accident where I hydroplaned and my car slammed into the cement guardrail, spun, rolled, and landed upside down. The seatbelt kept me strapped in and the airbags deployed, keeping me safe as well. I walked away with almost no injuries. With such a small car, people question the ability to protect you in an accident. But I could not be happier with this car when I was driving it, and the safety features that kept me alive and well.

Reliable and fuel efficient

Pros are fuel efficiency and easy parking. Easy to move if gets stuck. Cons are small fuel tank requiring more frequent stops. Lousy design for rear wipers. The wiper only does the bottom middle and doesn’t clear the top part of the windshield for clear view. High winds the car needs extra car to keep from being pushed into other lanes. Needs studded tires in snow as it is so light it slips easily.
