Positive Review
Decided to sell my 2001 Jeep Cherokee because of fuel economy and started to do the research. I really wanted to stick with domestic so my search was narowed to the Chevy Sonic and the Ford Fiesta and I did not want to wait for the Dodge Dart. Drove the Fiesta and the Sonic and there was no comparison, the Chevy rode better, was quicker, quiet and very comfortable. My research led me to order a sedan LT with the 1.4 Turbo, six speed manual. We have now driven over 5000 miles with a combined fuel avearge of 40MPG since we bought the car. If you are in the market for a subcompact car you really need to check out the Sonic. This car has exceeded all of our expectations and for someone who had not owned a GM vehicle for years it has created a new confidence that we can build a car in Michigan, USA, that can compete with the best in the world. Nice job Chevrolet, and thanks to the Lake Orion workers who have built a world class car. Keep it up!
Critical Review
Traded 05 Aveo owned 6 years with no road noise complaint. I've replaced the tires with quiet rated tires, installed Dynamat sound deadening material throughout and the noise from the tires is still terrible. It even drowns out the radio. I've only driven it 2200 miles in 5 months because of the tire noise. They spend all the money on useless technology like touchscreen radios and trying to turn a car into a cell phone while ignoring the basic driving experience of a quiet ride.

Cool style, drives great in snow
So many repairs, unreliable, slow, no Bluetooth
Was constantly coming in to get this car fixed, catalytic converter failed, temp sensor, coolant system, suspension, brakes. You name it. Even with keeping this car very well maintained, it didn’t even make it past 200,000 kms. Don’t recommend at all. Plus it’s a slow vehicle.
I have a 2016 sonic four-door that only has 42,000 miles on it and everything‘s going wrong with it. The screen in front took it to a Chevy dealer to get an oil change and check out the screen. They said I have to buy a new one, but everything not working now, all of this take care of my car
Great on gas 4dr small car
Too small too much money on mechanical fixes
My sonic been having problems since it was under warranty! Had to replace my thermostat 3 times timing belt, coolant system, throttle body just insane I was ok with the fixes at first because it was FREE but afterwards still had the same problems once each year so this year 2024 I will finally sell my car I also needed an alignment at least 3 times I had to change my sun visors just once great on gas also changed the windshield wipers and I believe that is all for now until sold inside of the car looks great but I will never buy this car again even if it was a newer version I just refuse! You guys I’ve had my car for 10yrs it is paid off but it was not worth it I kept it this long cause who wants a car note? Everything is so expensive I wanted to say some money but whew I decided to think twice and yeah I’m getting rid of it I put way too much money in this car over the years! I hope this help you all on what you would like to purchase

2012 chevy sonic LT 1.8 Worst production auto ever made. Fun to drive and for that I give it 2 stars. Transmission failer 4 times and still Under 70K miles. Twice under warranty, once under recall, and now I am stuck with this P.O.S..... Its not just the transmission. Both sun visors are broken blocking view. Cruse control switch broken because the wire wrapped around steering wheel. Paint faded less than 1 year old. Started skipping during idle with 20k miles. Dealer said it was normal. Turned out to be the timing belt. I could go on and on with the cons of this car. Do your research before you buy. Others having same issues
The 1.4l turbo engine gaskets fail easily allowing coolant to seep into the engine. This problem can be simply resolved if caught quickly by adding coolant sealant to reservoir and running the engine. Other than engine problems that occur. This vehicle is good to have
Good car good tire very dependable ! Great starter car for young man to start ? I need your price range please ?
Love the car. Is very liable No issues except having to change out thermostat about 6 mo ago Excellent on road with good gas mileage. Very easy to handle. Will keep it for a while!!!
