Positive Review
My last truck was a 2009 Duramax. It was a good truck. This new High Country has so many good features (like the full view cameras that help in parking and trailer hookup) that I have to say, "I LOVE IT". The pre-warmed seats and steering wheel are really nice on a 30 degree morning. The truck definitely is stiffer riding than my old truck but it is much flatter when going through curves. It definitely does handle much better. Even my wife likes to drive it. That is a complement in any body's book! The Duramax is like all the Duramax's --it's a power house. This definitely turns the tires over easier. The 10-speed Alison is so smooth you would hardly know it is shifting. The bed's extra tie downs and LED lighting are definite pluses. Not real happy with the cheap plastic covers over the fifth wheel hitch attaching points though. They have popped off several times already.
Critical Review
I have a 2020 3500HD LTZ and the truck has been back to the dealer 5 times due to it reducing power or breaking down completely. The DEF system is terrible and GM can not figure out what is wrong with it. Problems really started at 23,000 miles, now at 39,000 and it’s only getting worse. $70,000 down the drain with this truck.

Thanks to the emmissions systems, GM gets an average rating. This from my understanding isn't only a GM problem, rather its a modern diesel emmissions issue. I do have problems with the sensors built into the coolant overflow tank and def tank, when that part failed, twice, rhe entire tank needs replacing, really a huge waste of money. The sensors should be replaceable easily.

Difficulty removing tailgate
Have owned 2020 crew cab long bed 4x4 dually now at 85k. Very few issues. Have used it to pull fifth wheel cross country twice and truck camper flat towing wrangler unlimited twice. Under warrantee they replaced one fuel injector and front camera. had mileage has far exceeded that of my 1500 pulling bc everyday driving. Very comfortable with heated and cooled seats and the 360 camera system is excellent and in my opinion required to keep this beast from hitting obstacles. The only complaint is the difficulty of removing the tail gate and disconnecting the wiring harness for the truck camper.
It’s in the shop way to often. About half the time it’s emissions related. If I could go back I would not have bought this truck. If it was reliable it would be a good truck , but it’s not.

I purchased my 2020 3500 HD Duramax the fall of 2019. This truck is a unit, very large vehicle to live in the cities with but I make it work. Very powerful, I pull my dump trailer confidently. 0 issues mechanically with this truck. Everything feels heavy duty and well built compared to some of its class competitors. Highly recommend, trading mine for a 2022 GMC 3500 AT4.
