Positive Review
I bought this truck new in 2019. The previous vehicle was an 18 Denali HD. While I really enjoyed the Denali HD, The technology and styling was night and day difference. Its the little things like the fact that the cab is larger for the back seat passengers, as well as the fact that they now have rear ac vents. This completely eliminated the "Dad its hot back here" complaints. For the big things. I use this truck everyday to check on jobsites as well as deliver the occasional boards and plywood, so most of the time this truck runs unloaded with the exception of a toolbox. I do have a skid steer as well that I haul occasionally thus the need for the HD. My o my how the 10 speed transmission has changed the game. I was worried it would constantly be shifting and searching for gears but that's not the case at all, by far the smoothest shifting diesel I have ever had. One of the best rewards from this 10 speed is the mileage. I bought truck new and would average anywhere from 17.5 to 18 mpg, this is a mix of about 60% interstate 37% back country roads, and 3% off road job sites. That was new. The truck now has 29k miles in only 11 months. I am now averaging between 19.5 to 20. That is amazing on such a large truck. Now don't get me wrong I seldom romp on this truck, but I do average about 78mph on the interstate. Fuel mileage is huge to me because of the miles I rack up. To have a 20mpg truck that has enough torque to pull a house off its foundation is something I never thought would happen. I am a very satisfied customer and am currently waiting for the 2021 models to come out. Why would I get rid of a truck I rave about? Its simple, I just want to get the long bed version as it will be easier for lumber hauling. I am one of those weird guys that still use my truck as a truck.
Critical Review
I’ll start with the bad. I’ve had to get my 2500 diesel LT back to the dealer too many times to count. The tranny has a known issue where it leaks fluid and they have to replace all the seals. The tensioner essentially exploded causing so much collateral damage it took days to fix. Features of the vehicle weren’t included so we had to return the truck for them to add it in post. It’s a Covid truck, meaning I think the factory forgot how to make trucks when they returned from the pandemic. The good. When it works the towing is great.

@22000 miles,I couldn't be happier.. Best all around vehicle I have ever owned. Comfortable, power.
I received this truck with 15000 babied miles on it at 1 year old. I've driven for 6 months. I can't find a negative to the truck. Rides great unless you fall in a deep hole. Plenty of acceleration.. Great features for an LT trim.
Duramax / Alison transmission
Everything else
Have had to take it back to the dealership 6 times so far . List of problems : 1)Exhaust not correctly connected to engine 2)Blue tooth does not work correctly Nobody can hear you clearly on the phone . They still can’t find the problem . 3)5th wheel goose neck hitch collapsed . 4) Trailer wiring does not work correctly .(Brakes not working ) Seriously thinking about trading it in before warranty expires .
Powerful, Reliable, Inside is easy to clean
Bumpy ride unloaded which is to be expected for a 2500, interior looks a bit dated but I prefer the older look
I bought this vehicle a few weeks ago and it is a very good truck. It has had no issues and keeps going like a beast. The v8 is powerful and reliable. I have the Work Truck trim and the inside is very easy to clean because of the plastic floor. The android auto works great and I haven't had any issues with it so far.
Its accurate I can take my hands off and watch the road as it drives but if you look away while its driving for you it'll beap straight away. Very smooth driving would recommend.
Towing.
Not reliable.

Gas hog
I had a 2024 Silverado 2500 HD z71 6.6 gas engine for a year and got rid of it due to getting 14 mpg! I traveled to work (country roads) approx 22 miles one way 5 days a week and averaged 14 mpg! It cost me approx $100 a week in gas. Getting paid every 2 weeks it was $200 per check right off the top for gas. $400 a month for gas! Ridiculous!!! Traded it in for a car that gets approx 29 mpg and approx. $40 a week to transport to and from work! I've never been happier, y'all can keep your big trucks!
hey, I have 2 of the 2024 2500HD with the Durmax. One is a high country and the other is a LTZ. Overall appearance I really like. I like the small changes they made to the outside appearance. Makes the truck look better. I do like the interior in the High Country better. The leather doesn't seem as cheap as the LTZ. Both trucks interior are nice but i like the High Country better. I have 20k on the LTZ and 6k on the High Country. I have had the LTZ in the shop several times for emissions issues. Check engine light was on a lot, truck ran rough, wasn't sure if it would keep running. The dealership said they had to flash the ECM, said that it is a software issue. The High Country had the same thing done at 3k miles. Not overly impressed with the emissions issues. I had a 2022 Ram 2500 with the Cummins in it prior to both these trucks and was more impressed with that. I do kind of miss that pickup. The one thing that I have noticed on both trucks is this, not a major deal but bothers me as I am fussy when it comes to my trucks, they both have the fold out running boards, I noticed on both that the black paint is rubbing off on where you step. it happened right away too. I noticed at 1000 miles both trucks started doing it. Not a major but not overly impressed especially for the price tag. The LTZ ran right at 80k and the High Country was at 93k, so that shouldn't be happening. I could see that happening if they both were 10 years old plus but they are not even a year old. Overall performance is good, has a lot of power for towing. I do like the Allison Transmission. Fuel mileage is really good on the highway as well, both trucks average around 20mpg on highway just normal driving which is really good right out of the gate. The biggest thing I do not like is emissions issues but you will have that with anything that uses DEF. To say I would buy another one, not really sure yet. Not saying I would not, but I think I would probably go back to the Ram 2500 with the Cummins. Now that the 2500 in the Rams have the digital display I would go back, the main reason I went to the Chevy was for the technology it had to offer but I wish I would have waited because the Ram has a lot to offer now too. I do wish that the Chevy would come with the air ride system in the 2500 like the Rams have. Not to beat up on the chevy as I own 2 of them but I would really think hard before buying one again
