Positive Review
I love my car. Although the seats require a certain type of cover due to the seat belts and there is only one cup holder within the entire vehicle, I enjoy driving and owning my Monte Carlo. The turn signal broke, and when I had gotten it fixed the right turn signal sometimes doesn't stay in place. But other than that it get's great mileage, goes super fast, and even though it's from 1996, it's still a sexy looking car. ;)
Critical Review
bought in 1999, soon turned into a money pit. Had to replace engine gaskets which cost a fortune in labor. Brake lines rusted out. ABS went out years ago and not worth the cost to get fixed. Rear view mirror fell off several times. A/c went out and hasn't been the same since. Radiator went out recently, alternator not long before that. One window won't work. I expect thing to happen as a car gets older but not this much.

Bought it new in 1999. Still runs and looks excellent. 180K miles. 3100 V6. Wish I had bought 2 of them, yes really.
Stock it has several problems wouldn't sell it to anybody I know it's that bad. But I would make a good lawn ornament.
Economical, easy to drive, reliable
Uncomfortable, under powered, not what it once was
The 95-99 Monte Carlo is a pretty good car. It’s reliable, easy to drive, and pretty economical. But I have a few gripes. To start off, I am disappointed with Chevy. I mean seriously, if you’re going to bring back a car that was once a tough, mean, and yet luxurious muscle car, you shouldn’t have gone with the lumina design and slap a fwd motor in it. I mean come on, it was such an amazing car why would you do that to it. The second gripe I have is the power. For 90’s cars, power shouldn’t be an issue, but seriously? A 160hp V6? Come on! What happened to the rumbling 5.0 V8 that could be easily modified to make 350-400 hp. You can’t even put in at least a 3.5 to make at least 200? I get it that the highway craze put up a high demand for highway cruisers but this car has a name that represented luxury and power. It’s disappointing. Another issue I have is the comfort, it’s not that great. For a coupe, you should expect a little more effort to keep someone’s bum from going numb after they’ve been traveling for 3 hours straight, but man, these seats suck. But moving past those issues, I’d say this car is a good option for anyone who needs a cheap and simple daily driver because man, that V6 lasts a long time and takes a huge beating.
Powerful and comfortable.
Eats engines, expensive when ailing
We've owned our 1996 Monte Carlo Z34 since it came off the dealer lot in spring 1996. It's very comfortable and has power, but there have been several issues: - in the late 1990s, we had to replace the cylinder head just outside warranty - in the early 2000s, we had to replace the alternator - not an inexpensive task - in 2010, we had to replace the entire engine at 35000 miles due to overheat damage (apparently air got in the coolant system, and killed the flow) Apart from that... it's been a good car, and it fits my wife well. Not too many other expenses. The audio system sounds great, but no aux inputs and audio-CDs only is a minor annoyance. We do now need to replace the struts and rotors, repaint the sunburned and peeling finish, and do some interior work, which will cost more than the Blue Book value, but with a kid learning to drive and the sentimental value of a car that's gone across the US 3 times with us, we'll probably keep it running.
This car is in mint condition , almost a classic with no damage what so ever , owned by two old people, kept in a garage, hardly driven with 40,762 Milesian it also with extras ground effects all around , added Aero wing spoiler added, sunroof, with cover automatic,
I bought this car for $750.00 after getting everything said and done it was about $900.00 and since I have not had to put hardly any work into it, however, it does have high mileage. When I received the car it was in Fair condition and everything was original until I had to replace some things such as the alternator and gas tank for a minor hole. I seriously love the way it rides though. And is really good on the highway and in general. I hope this car still has a lot of life in her because my plans are to one day get her fully restored. I've had the car since last October, so five months in total. I really enjoyed driving it for the first time too. Though some consider it to be a big boat I really just love it! In the beginning I figured I would have to put more work into her because of her age which is when I found the alternator had to be replaced and a new battery in it as well. Unfortunately, it should have cruise control and it does not, but does have a cd player instead of a cassette player. I really believe this car has much potential and at this current time I'm unwilling to sell it until I know that she is pretty much good to go, but even after I'll still keep her. She's come a long way, after being a south car most of her life, she just experienced her first winter and dealt really well. Just love, love, love the car!
Fast response, never breaks, good gas mileage
The breaks are slow unless sport breaks are used
I have owned my 1999 Monte Carlo Z34 since it was new. It now has over 226200 miles on it. It has a 3.8 liter V6 in it that originally produced 200 HP. The car still produces about the same amount of power it did when I first bought it. It always responds eagerly when you want to. The Monte Carlo get good gas mileage at 19 city and 30 highway. There is plenty of space on the interior and the trunk is also very large. the main problem I have had with this car is the air-conditioning. I have had to replace it three times but it always worked until it finally stopped. The breaks are somewhat slow on this car unless you put premium break discs on it. The car is a great daily driver and has some sportiness to it as well. If you want a car that lasts for a long time and that reacts well, I highly recommend the Monte Carlo Z34.
