Positive Review
We bought our 2009 LS at the end of 2009 and it had 30 miles on it. We had to drive it 30 min, twice a day in commute between cities and 5 hrs away for job trainings, multiple times. That doesn't even include across states for vacation. The only things that needed fixed were tires, tailight bulbs, and fuel valve with your regular yearly oil changes, and once in a while, windshield wipers/ air filters. We put almost 200,000 miles on it by 2020 and the SUV doesn't need anything although it would be wise to do a tune up. The car is roomy and the back hatch holds much. We had 2 accidents (not our fault) since having it, and it barely jolted us even though the side doors were bent inward. The only suggestions I would give is the following: there's something about 2009 and constant fuel valve changes, Chevy needs to make tail lights where moisture doesn't come in and short the tail light, and please think about the HEAT in Southern states and offer a vent for A/C in the backseat so people do not get frostbite in the front in order to allow people in the back to tolerate the heat. Like most all SUVs, you can feel the road but I think it is still comfortable. Outside of those reasons, I would have given a 5 for longstanding quality, performance, and overall points.
Critical Review
After reporting the timing chain ticking at 50,000, finally got it repaired, only to have it go bad again after only 10,000 miles, and GM will not repair again, as seems to be an ongoing issue with these engines. Metal timing chains on plastic rollers is NOT a good idea. The same engine was in the Cadillac and recalled. Why are they not doing anything about this issue in the Equinox's , and Acadia's?

As of 2025, my 2006 V6 Equinox LT has shown excellent stability. Engine currently has 178,XXX miles and shows great power. Only had to replace front brake rotors at 102,000 miles. 23mpg Highway mileage still. Does not use even a quart of oil between 5K change intervals. BEST vehicle owned since my '96 Pontiac Firebird 3800L.
smooth ride, quiet, fairly good mileage, reliable
none, I can think of.
I bought this card brand new back in 2005. It worked out well for me. So well that I still own and drive it at 170,000 miles. Had to replace or repair a thign or two over the years, but that's a natural thing for cars.
only 2000 miles on tires-30 mpg
body rust on bottom- not bad
120,000 miles fair body, good mechanical condition recent inspection and driven up to 2 months ago
Good running vehicle
Wish it had all the navigation, backup camera etc.
It's a good first car for anyone that needs a lease expensive car. Low miles no problems. I bought it from a Previous owner It only had like 50000 miles on. Good all year long. driving. sunroof, those really good floor mats the liners front and back very clean inside. Good vehicle. I did put new rims on alloy had to because when I bought it they were rusted. Had the whole car cleaned professionally inside It didn't really need it but I did it anyway it sat for a while outside. It does have one dent from previous owner on back hatch door and can be repaired by a dent man no paint is messed up on it just needs to be pulled out and all gone and minor little things from previous owner again. Like I said good running car I'm asking little more for it then Kelly Book though not a lot just a little. Nothing is never perfect so that's why I gave it a 4 star if they had 10 I would have gave it a 9 nothing to do with the vehicle
Absolute tank
Engine decided to snort smoke oil :(
My dad got this with ~20,000 miles on it in 2010 and 13 years later it has met its end at 281,000 miles. Around 240k we had the housing for the 5th cylinder spark plug strip on us and we needed to replace it. 45k later and I'd say its been a great ride. I've had a suspension bolt rust out on me but this car did sit outside in the Chicago climate for 6 months before we fixed it. Overall it was a fantastic car when given TLC and driven without gunning the engine.
Head gasket always goes bad head gasket goes bad, head gasket costs $300 & worh labor if u hav to pay some1, it’s totaled,
I had mine for 9 years. I was its second owner. Worst I had to deal with was the basics. Oil filters, break pads, rotors, and the messes my first two kiddos left. Had to let mine go unfortunately after a drunk driver caused an accident.
Just put a new engine good tires no problems with transmission. Original interior. I love the car just looking for the value just in case I want to trade it in for something newer 2005 LS equinox.
