Positive Review

"One of my best cars"

I have owned nearly 20 vehicles in my life and the Chevy Cobalt has been my most reliable vehicle. I've had the car for almost four years now and am closing on 80,000 miles. The only maintenance that it has received is scheduled and oil changes. I put new tires on it at 65,000 miles. I would definitely recommend this vehicle to someone that likes reliability and good gas mileage.

Critical Review

"Chevy is a disappointment."

Never again. Get me back in a foreign sedan, such as a Nissan or Subaru. The design and quality of dang near EVERYTHING was a joke (and this was outside of the ignition switch recall/replacement). Turn signal replacements, truck hydraulic replacement, automatic tranny lever replacement. Water droplets stain the seat upholstery. The radio/stereo system is failing. Lastly, what advantage is it to have my car battery in the trunk under everything? totally illogical and incovenient. Moreover, there is NO safety advantage to having the car lock up (wheels) if the battery is dead.

owned from 90k miles to 165k miles

car is getting older and more maintenance has been required but for what i paid ($2200) it has been a great car. had a few problems like ignition coils and and a exhaust flex pipe blow out. now its starting to run rough and time to trade in my 20 year old beater. has held up well from rust except for exhaust and muffler. but all in all its a solid car if you take care of it.

Awesome vehicle
Pros

Just a great car in general

Cons

None

I was hesitant to buy this 2007 Cobalt back in 2010, but glad I did. It's great on gas, has get up and go with a 2.2 liter engine. It's very comfortable too. My Cobalt is loaded also. Key is also to take very good care of your vehicle with oil changes and other services.

Chevy Cobalt

It's actually a really decent starting car when you first get your license. It runs smoothly, not really any problems with it at all. Recommend for people wanting a cheapy and easy car.

An incredible car!
Pros

Performance, economy, comfort, styling, reliabilit

Cons

Sub-par paint quality.

I bought my 5-speed '06 Cobalt SS coupe new in September 2005 and haven't regretted it for a second of the 17 years and 195,000 miles that it has given me. Sure, some things have gone wrong: the first set of tires (Pirelli P7 summer performance radials) only lasted about 20,000 miles spirited driving, but modern all-season radials have given me about 75,000 miles per set since then and the difference in handling was negligible. The alternator quit at about 150,000 miles. The clearcoat on the paint started delamiating after about 4 years and GM refused to cover it under the 5-year, 50,000 mile warranty. It has plenty of room for a big guy (6'3", 245 lbs.). The power door locks and rear defogger no longer work, and the passenger side power window is kinda slow. On the other hand, this little red 172 h.p. pocket rocket was rated at 28 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 32 mpg combined. Just being aware of how I drive the car during my nearly 60 mile daily commute, I see 40 mpg regularly. This from a 17 year old, 195,000 mile compact that outruns most every modern cor short of a Hemi Challenger or a Corvette. Do I have any regrets about paying roughly $19,000 in total including tax, tags, and paperwork for my first new car (the sticker said about $21,000!)? None whatsoever! Do I have any intention at all of taking the ludicrous $298 offer KBB made for it? Please don't make me laugh! OK, so it's kinda rough around the edges. It's more than twice as old as the average car in the U.S. (7 years). It is stone reliable, with the alternator being its only part failure. It starts on the first crank of the key EVERY TIME! My wife's Honda Accord doesn't do that. The paint may be shot but, except for some of the paint rubbing off of some of the trim, the driver's side floor mat having a heel hole in it, and the shift knob coming apart, the interior looks factory fresh. The car's premium AM/FM/ CD/Satellite sound system was a great value: I'm no audiophile, but it sounds better than any custom sound system that I have ever had installed in any car that I've had in the past. In summation, if you can find one of these little gems for anything close to the $298 they offered for my car, RUN, don't walk to the dealer and snap it up before someone bests you to it!! Signed, One Seriously Satisfied Customer!

Reliable
Pros

A lot of good things gas mileage was over the top.

Cons

Comfort and front speakers and key fob never worke

Well I had a car like this for almost 3 years and there is only a couple of negative things I found wrong with it and neither is a major problem... #1 is like others have stated the front speakers short out even brand new one's and you can't hear the turn signals or when you open the door with keys in their is bo dinging if the lights are on.... #2 Ball joints went out 2 times and I had them put in professionally and was getting ready for another set... Then the last thing was comfort.... If you plan on driving a few hours each way it's terrible. . I had to drive about 3 hrs each way for a total of 6 hrs a couple times a week and it wasn't good... No comfort what so ever.. One thing I would like to say is I was sitting still in traffic when when a brink's truck going 70 miles an hour Rear ended me and and I ended up in the passenger back seat with the trunk sitting right there beside me and I walked away with bruises whiplash and Mental anguish and the car held up perfectI wouldn't know what would happen with the front end if you hit somebody but I do know I lived with being rendered that hard
