Midsize crossover SUVs tend to blend together, but the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer is an exception. This is a stand-out in midsize, 2-row SUVs for its bold, Camaro-inspired styling inside and out. On top of a head-turning look, it has sharp handling for an SUV this size, and its available V6 engine gives it the performance to back up its muscular aesthetic. Like most Chevrolet models, the Blazer comes with a generous list of standard tech features, including a user-friendly infotainment system.
The Chevy Blazer competes with 2-row crossovers like the Ford Edge, Honda Passport, and Hyundai Santa Fe. The Blazer is priced competitively at the base level, but the higher trims are a questionable value proposition compared to competitors. Another weak spot of the Blazer is cramped back-seat and cargo space, partially due to its sporty shape. If you’re looking for a stylish and tech-savvy SUV and don’t plan on having back-seat passengers often, the Blazer could be just right.
2022 Chevrolet Blazer pricing starts at $23,709 for the Blazer 2LT Sport Utility 4D, which had a starting MSRP of $34,795 when new. The range-topping 2022 Blazer RS Sport Utility 4D starts at $30,884 today, originally priced from $45,395.

The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The prices here reflect what buyers are currently paying for used 2022 Chevrolet Blazer models in typical condition when purchasing from a dealership. These prices are updated weekly.
For 2022, the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 engine is the new standard engine in the Blazer, replacing the outgoing 2.5-liter non-turbo unit. The newly standard turbo engine strikes a satisfying balance of performance and efficiency.
Acceleration and passing power with the base turbo engine are more than adequate, and it pairs well with the Blazer’s sharp handling and confident braking. If you really want performance that matches the muscular look of the Blazer, you’ll want the 308-horsepower V6. It’s no Camaro, and we’d like to see a V8 option, but the Blazer is more enjoyable to drive than most of its similarly-priced competitors.
Driving around town or on the highway is pleasant and quiet. Active noise cancellation helps keep noise from the road and the engine out of the cabin. The suspension does a nice job absorbing road imperfections while still being firm enough to have a little fun in the corners and on twisty roads.
Slotted between the Equinox and the Traverse, the midsize, 2-row Chevrolet Blazer has more room than a compact crossover, but it’s not as roomy as bigger 3-row SUVs. Compared to its direct competitors like the Ford Edge and Honda Passport, back-seat headroom and cargo space are a little tight.
That said, you get a pretty generous cargo hold of 64.2 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down. The back seats are good for kids, but if you’re planning on transporting adults back there regularly, you may want to look to one of the Blazer’s more spacious rivals.
So interior space is just okay for its class, but we’re big fans of the interior design of the Blazer. With its big, round air vents and straightforward controls, it feels like sitting in a taller Camaro. It’s not the most luxurious interior in this class, but it’s one of the most interesting.
The standard 8-inch infotainment system is excellent, with almost no learning curve at all. Its simplicity makes it unintimidating for drivers who may have never used a modern car infotainment system before. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa come standard, which we always like to see.
The exterior design is one of the highlights of the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer. It’s been called “Camaro-inspired,” which isn’t hard to see in the muscular body lines, lighting profile, and aggressive front end. It’s a look that has translated well to a practical midsize SUV. The Blazer looks especially sporty in the RS trim, and there’s a 2-tone roof option that’s new for 2022, as well as two new paint colors; Nitro Yellow Metallic and Blue Glow Metallic.
As for the size, it competes in the field of midsize 2-row SUVs. That means it’s bigger than a compact SUV like the Chevy Equinox, but takes up less garage space than a bigger 3-row crossover like the Chevy Traverse. In terms of size, the Blazer is close to competitors like the Ford Edge and Nissan Murano.
SPORTY RS TRIM
The Blazer RS not only has a cool, unique appearance package, but it comes standard with the brawny 308-hp V6 engine. It also has an available twin-clutch AWD system, which is exclusive to the RS model.
UPSCALE PREMIER TRIM
The Blazer can get into luxury territory with the range-topping Premier model. An appearance package gives it a more glamorous look while the interior is loaded with premium features. There’s an available Enhanced Convenience Package exclusive to the Premier trim.
The Blazer model range has been simplified a bit for 2022. There’s the base LT trim, the sporty RS model, and the premium Premier model. Within the LT model are the 2LT and 3LT trims adding more features.
Standard features on the base LT model include an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and a Wi-Fi hotspot, dual-zone climate control, an HD backup camera, and the Chevy Safety Assist package, which includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking, lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning, a following-distance indicator, forward-collision alert, and automatic high-beams.
When you get into the upper trims, you get more features that improve the Blazer’s appearance, comfort, and technology. The RS and Premier models have their own distinct appearance packages, which change the personality of the Blazer to be more sporty or more upscale. Some nice features that come standard on these upper trims include a hands-free power liftgate, an automatic heated steering wheel, and a navigation system.
Other available options on the Blazer include a 2-tone roof, a few appearance packages on the LT model like Midnight Edition and Redline Edition, AWD, a Surround Vision camera, and more safety tech like adaptive cruise control.
There are 2 engine options under the hood of the 2022 Chevy Blazer; a turbocharged inline-4 and a naturally aspirated DOHC V6. As you may have guessed, the 4-cylinder is more efficient, and the V6 is more powerful. Both engines suit the Blazer well, and this SUV’s personality changes depending on which engine you go with. Most drivers will be content with the turbo engine, which has more than enough grunt for everyday driving. However, drivers looking for a little more muscle to match the look of the Blazer will be more satisfied with the brawny V6.
Every Blazer comes with a smooth and quick-shifting 9-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional. If you get AWD in the RS model, you get a twin-clutch AWD system that’s exclusive to the RS, but that’s the only RS-specific performance upgrade.
