The 2021 GV80 is the first SUV from Hyundai’s luxury brand. Seating is mostly for five, although one trim has an optional third row, raising passenger count to seven. Just be aware that the third row is a bit tight and best for children only.
As with all Genesis products, the 2021 GV80 comes well equipped at a very competitive price, and with a choice of either a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine or a twin-turbo V6. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the 4-cylinder model, with all-wheel drive as an option. All V6 models come with standard all-wheel drive.
Distinctive on the outside, the GV80 is roomy and comfortable inside. Standard upholstery is leatherette, while upper trims get Nappa leather. The standard display is a 14.5-inch widescreen with a dial control as well as a pad with handwriting recognition.
Standard features include such things as heated and 12-way power-adjustable front seats, a 12-speaker audio system, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration. Standard safety features include lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. Every 2021 Genesis GV80 comes with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
In its first year on the market, the 2021 Genesis GV80 won our highest accolade, the Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award among its class of midsize luxury SUVs.
Three Trim Levels
There are three basic trim levels of GV80: Standard, Advanced, and Prestige. Factor in optional AWD on the 2.5T 4-cylinder models, the 3.5T V6 and the Advanced+ package with 3-row seating, and you have up to 10 possible variants.
Starting at the bottom is the 2.5T Standard, with the 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder and rear-wheel drive. MSRP is $49,925 ($48,900 + $1,025 destination). Standard features include heated 12-way power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, a hands-free tailgate, 19-inch wheels, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Infotainment is via a 14.5-inch screen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, a 12-speaker premium audio system, and four USB ports.
Stepping up to the Advanced trim ($53,825) adds a panoramic roof, wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, the Digital Key (which allows you to use an Android phone to gain entry), and a 21-speaker Lexicon audio system. To that, the Prestige ($58,225) adds leather seats, Blind-Spot View Monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist, 20-inch wheels, and massaging front seats.
Next up are the 3.5T models, with the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 and standard all-wheel drive. The Standard ($59,650) includes 20-inch alloy wheels, upgraded brakes, and electronic suspension. The Advanced ($65,350) adds leather seats, a Blind-Spot View Monitor, massaging front seats, the 21-speaker Lexicon audio system, and remote parking. The Advanced+ ($65,550) is the only GV80 with the optional third row of seats.
At the top is the 3.5T all-wheel-drive Prestige ($71,950), which has Nappa leather seating and adds a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated and power-adjustable second-row seats, and power-closing doors. As it comes very well equipped, there are only a few options. Fully loaded, a 2021 Genesis GV80 3.5T AWD Prestige comes to $72,315.

3.5-liter Twin-Turbo V6
There’s nothing wrong with the 300-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in the base 2.5T, but the twin-turbo makes the GV80 downright quick. With 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque, it gets the big SUV moving, and makes for an invigorating drive.
All-Wheel Drive
If you have the V6, all-wheel drive comes standard. This system helps direct power to where it is needed most, providing all-weather confidence. It also includes an electronic suspension with road preview, which uses cameras to scan the road ahead for bumps and ruts.
Lexicon Premium Audio System
An audiophile-grade system that pumps 1,050 watts through 21 speakers, this system uses Quantum Logic for an immersive surround-sound experience. If you’re going to have the best, you might as well have a top-grade audio system to enjoy your favorite music.
Power-Adjustable Second-Row Seats
If you’re going to be carrying passengers in your premium SUV, they might as well be as comfortable as possible. Available on the Prestige grim, these offer 12-way power adjustment.
Remote Self-Parking Assistant
This handy feature allows you to start and move the GV80 out of a parking space simply by using your fob while standing outside the vehicle. It’s particularly handy if the GV80 is in a tight spot.
Adriatic Blue Paint
While the 2021 GV80 comes very well equipped, there are only a few options. Adriatic Blue is a striking color that helps the GV80 stand out from the crowd and turns heads.
