What do You Get on a Fully Loaded 2022 Genesis G70?

2022 Genesis G70

Now only in its fourth year of production, the 2022 Genesis G70 has continually improved in its efforts to compete among luxury sport sedans. Revisions throughout for 2022 have made it a tighter, more confident, and more planted sport sedan, with sharper steering and a nice growl.

Power comes from either a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder or a meaty 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6. An 8-speed automatic transmission sends power to either the rear or all four wheels. There’s no longer an optional manual transmission.

Standard features include leatherette upholstery, a 10.25-inch navigation screen, an 8-inch digital instrument panel, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. Three years of complimentary scheduled maintenance and valet care are also included, along with a class-leading 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Safety features include blind-spot monitoring, forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-following assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, and the Highway Driving Assist semi-autonomous system.

Seven Trims

Technically, there are seven trims of the 2022 Genesis G70, with the highest being a limited (500 units) Launch Edition, based on the top Sport Prestige model.

There are two engine choices in the 2022 Genesis G70: a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder or a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6. The standard setup is rear-wheel drive (RWD), and all-wheel drive (AWD) can be added to any trim for $2,000. Destination charge for each model is $1,045.

The base model (2.0T) includes the 4-cylinder turbo and starts at $38,570 ($37,525 + $1,045). Standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels, leatherette seating, a 10.25-inch navigation screen, an 8-inch digital instrument panel, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Next up is the Prestige 2.0T with the same engine. The Prestige ($42,570) has 19-inch wheels, leather seats, a sunroof, wireless smartphone charging, a 15-speaker/660-watt Lexicon audio system, power passenger seat, a power tilt-and-slide sunroof, acoustic laminated front side glass, and heated and ventilated front seats.

Just above the cost of the Prestige 2.0T is the 3.3T Sport. Its base price of $43,145 gets you the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and rear-wheel drive. Performance is enhanced with a sport suspension, Brembo brakes, variable-ratio steering, 19-inch alloy wheels, and dual exhausts. Seats are leather.

For $47,445, the Sport Advanced adds a sunroof, wireless phone charging, ventilated seats, the 15-speaker Lexicon audio system of the Prestige, and the Genesis Digital Key. There’s also dark chrome trim on the grille and around the side glass.

Fully Loaded

The top trim is the $51,445 Sport Prestige. To the Sport Advanced, it adds Nappa leather, a synthetic suede headliner, and a surround-view monitor. Performance upgrades include Brembo brakes, a limited-slip differential, and an electronically controlled suspension.

The limited-edition Launch Edition ($53,545), based on the Sport Prestige, includes lightweight 19-inch wheels, a special matte finish in either Verbier White or Melbourne Gray, and an interior in Obsidian Black or Sevilla Red leather. However, since it’s a limited edition, we’re going to focus on the Sport Prestige.

While rear-wheel drive exploits the V6’s sport potential, for the sake of this piece, we’ll add the $2,000 all-wheel-drive option. As the Sport Prestige is already well equipped, there are only a few options, but fully loaded, you’re looking at about $53,000.

2022 Genesis G70 3.3T Sport Prestige Features:

  • 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6
  • All-wheel drive
  • 15-speaker/660-watt Lexicon premium audio system
  • Havana Red or Mallorca Blue paint: $500
  • Illuminated door scuff plates: $395
  • Reversible cargo tray: $150
  • All-season fitted liners: $195
  • Mud guards: $140
  • Wheel locks: $85

3.3-liter Twin-Turbo V6

2022 Genesis G70

While the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder makes an adequate 252 hp, the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 turns the G70 into a rocket ship. It blasts the car forward with 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. With that engine, Genesis adds Brembo brakes, dual exhausts, and in the case of the Sport Prestige, an electronically controlled suspension.

All-Wheel Drive

Most sport sedans come equipped with rear-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is always a good thing, particularly with such a powerful engine, and it makes the G70 a capable companion in all weather, enhancing traction.

Lexicon Premium Audio System

2022 Genesis G70Built by Harman, this setup pumps 660 watts through 15 speakers using Quantum Logic Surround. So while you’ll love the sound of the twin-turbo V6 at full chat, sometimes you just want to blast some tunes. This system is a fine way to do so.

Havana Red or Mallorca Blue Paint

If you’re going to be stepping out in your premium luxury sport sedan, why not paint it with a head-turning hue? Havana Red and Mallorca Blue are two particularly noticeable colors, although there are plenty more.

Wireless Phone Charging

2022 Genesis G70

Fewer wires and cables make for a clean, uncluttered look in the cockpit. The wireless charging pad on the center console ahead of the shifter makes it easy to replenish the battery on your smartphone.

Reversible Cargo Tray and All-Season Fitted Liners

These offer extra protection for your trunk and can be pulled out and cleaned easily. Why not make your G70 look as pristine on the inside as it looks on the outside?

Illuminated Door Scuff Plates

Admittedly these are a bit gimmicky, but they add a bit of shiny style, and the name Genesis lights up when you open the doors.
