A somewhat unconventional midsize pickup, the 2022 Honda Ridgeline does not have the body-on-frame chassis of traditional pickups. This presents both positives and negatives, as it has a smoother ride than most pickups, but loses some off-roading ability as a result. That’s a trade-off Honda is willing to make. Really, the Ridgeline is more like its cousin the Honda Pilot SUV, but with a pickup bed.
There is only one engine choice for the 2022 Honda Ridgeline: a 280-hp 3.5-liter V6 connected to all four wheels by a 9-speed automatic. A terrain response feature enables it to handle different slippery surfaces, and practically speaking, it can tow up to 5,000 pounds and carry 1,580 pounds in its cargo bed. It can definitely handle steep grades and dirt roads, but there are better choices for boulder-bashing adventures.
Last year’s redesign gives Ridgeline rugged looks with a squared-off front, upright grille, and hood power bulge. Inside, the 4-door Ridgeline offers plenty of space for five adults, and the 60/40-split rear seat helps with the loading of longer items. We particularly like the lockable storage compartment in the floor of the bed for extra security. This bin also has a removable drain plug, so it can be filled with ice and used as a cooler. The Ridgeline’s tailgate also flips down or opens like a gate for easier access.
Four Trims
Every 2022 Honda Ridgeline gets a 3.5-liter V6 and all-wheel drive, with the base Sport trim starting at $36,890 plus $1,225 destination. Standard equipment includes tri-zone automatic climate control, keyless ignition, active noise cancellation, and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a 7-speaker audio system. Safety features come via the Honda Sensing safety suite, which includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, road departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control.
Next up is the RTL (starting at $39,870), with leather upholstery, heated front seats, power moonroof, Sirius XM, and more safety features, including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
Starting at $42,820 is the RTL-E, which steps up to a 540-watt premium audio system with eight speakers, wireless phone charger, navigation, HD radio, and an in-bed audio system.
At the top is the Black Edition (starting at $44,320), which adds a full black leather interior, black 18-inch alloy wheels, red ambient LED interior lighting, and heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. With a few extra packages to make your Ridgeline a bit more friendly for outdoor activities and camping, a fully loaded 2022 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition will run about $52,092 (which includes $1,225 in destination charges). Depending on your specific needs, things like extra racks for bikes or kayaks require the addition or subtraction of some of the items listed below.

Black Edition
For just a bit more than the RTL-E, this top package adds black alloy wheels, black leather throughout, and red ambient LED lighting throughout the inside to add some extra cool to your Ridgeline. And a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, for those cold mornings.
Satellite Navigation
It’s always good to know where you’re going, particularly when you take the dirt road out to your campsite. What better reassurance than a navigation system linked to satellites, available in both the RTL-E and the Black Edition trims.
Premium Audio System and Truck Bed Audio
Available in the RTL-E and above, this stereo upgrade includes a subwoofer and eight speakers to pump your tunes throughout the cabin and even into the truck bed, via the truck bed audio system. If you’re going to have a tailgate party, better make sure you do it right.
HPD Package
This package includes accessories from Honda Performance Development. Among them are fender flares, an HPD front grille, HPD alloy wheels, and other emblems and flares.
Utility Package
This adds such things as roof rails, crossbars, and running boards. This option also allows you to add various racks and other pieces.
Cargo Storage Package
If you’re buying a pickup truck, you’re obviously planning to carry stuff in the bed. This package adds protection around the bed. It also features a hard tonneau cover, cargo dividers, and storage bins that fit under the rear seats.
Bed Tent
Custom designed to fit the body of the Ridgeline, this adds as either a camp tent or just a way to keep cool when you’re out on a hot day.
