Following up on the exceptionally cool Golf GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo Concept that was unveiled last year at the company’s annual Wörthersee fan fest in Reifnitz, Austria, VW has taken the wraps off of its coupe-bodied cousin. Specifically created as a new entry for Gran Turismo 6 on the Sony Playstation 3, the virtual VW GTI Supersport Vision Gran Turismo seen here also is being crafted into a real-world one-off that promises to have an equally stunning dynamic character.

While the automaker remains tight-lipped about when or where we’ll see it in the metal and composite, the GTI Supersport Vision Gran Turismo also is expected to make its first public appearance at this year’s Wörthersee gathering in May. Just how impressive might this tin-topped terror be? To complement its ultra-aggressor appearance, VW has confirmed the GTI Supersport shares the same powertrain as the Roadster: a 3.0-liter twin-turbo TSI VR6 that ships 496 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of peak torque to all four wheels via a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. With a power-to-weight ratio pegged at 5.5:1, both the computer-generated and real Supersport variants reportedly can hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and top out at 186 mph. Stay tuned.
