We took a Kia crossover out on a racetrack. Not long ago, that sentence wouldn’t have made much sense. But now, the Kia EV6 GT is here.
It boasts exotic sports car speed – just 3.4 seconds to 60 mph – for a price tag of $61,400, plus a $1,295 destination fee.
It’s the fastest production car Kia has ever built. It’s meant to be a livable, all-electric everyday car. But there’s a little yellow button on the steering wheel that sets it up to perform like a European sports car.
We sent Mike Danger to a Las Vegas track to find out how it works. His verdict?
“Yes, the EV6 GT proves that it can deliver exotic sports car performance, boogie on the track, and run like a rocket in a straight line.” It’s “still a practical crossover,” he says. Visibility is good, there’s a long list of automated safety aids, and sufficient back seat room for adults.
