UPDATE: Check out our full review of the new Supra

Toyota previewed the return of the Supra sports car with a racing version called the GR Racing Concept at the Geneva Motor Show. The all-new 2019 Toyota Supra, which will be launched sometime later this year, is jointly developed with BMW, which will base its next generation Z4 roadster off the platform. BMW will unveil its new model in a few months.

The Toyota Supra GR Racing Concept rides on a 97.2-inch wheelbase and measures 180.1 inches overall and stands just 48.4 inches tall. Toyota didn’t give any technical details on the front-engine, rear-drive sports coupe, but the styling is clearly influenced by the company’s FT-1 show car introduced at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Toyota says the “90” racing number alludes to the Supra’s codename and is confirmation that a fifth-generation model is in the production pipeline. While the basic body form is similar to what we will see in production, the large rear wing, flared wheel arches, aggressive front splitter, rear diffuser and side skirts are add on racing modifications, as are the BBS racing wheels, Michelin tires, exhaust kit and Brembo brakes. Likewise, the interior is fitted with an OMP competition set, racing dash, quick release steering, roll cage, fire extinguisher and carbon fiber door panels.

The GR Supra Racing Concept is to be featured in a new update of the Gran Turismo Sport video game scheduled for release in April 2018.
