Toyota Recalls 41,000 Over Damaged Seat Belts

Toyota and its Lexus luxury division have recalled 40,922 vehicles because their rear center seat belts may not function properly.

Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:

The company tells federal safety officials that seat belt webbing may have been damaged during assembly. That could leave a weakened seat belt that might not restrain an occupant in a crash.

Dealers will inspect the belts and replace them if they find anything suspect. Until dealers have completed this inspection, owners should not allow anyone to use the rear center seat.
