Toyota and its Lexus luxury brand have recalled 1,716 vehicles that were repaired under a previous recall because the repair might not have been performed correctly. The problem could leave the vehicles with driver’s airbags that don’t deploy in an accident.
Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:
- 2023 Lexus RX
- 2023-2024 Lexus NX
- 2023 Toyota Corolla
- 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross
- 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid
- 2023 Toyota Highlander
- 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
- 2023 Toyota Tacoma
In 2023, Toyota recalled about 110,000 vehicles to replace spiral cable assemblies in their steering columns that could pull apart, leading to an airbag failure. Inspecting its records, Toyota discovered that 1,716 of those may not have been repaired correctly.
Dealers will inspect the cable in question and replace it if necessary.
