Tesla Recalls Nearly 700,000 Over Tire Pressure Monitors

Tesla has recalled 694,303 vehicles because their tire pressure monitoring systems might not warn owners of low tire pressure.

A recent software update created the problem, Tesla tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Affected cars will initially warn drivers of low pressure. However, once the driver has turned the car off, the warning will not reappear after subsequent startups, even if the problem persists.

Teslas can receive software updates over the air. So, the company says, it has already pushed out an update to fix the problem.

Recall repairs, by law, are free. Automakers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespans.
