Tesla has warned that the price of its Model Y SUV is about to increase. A banner at the top of the brand’s website now cautions, “Prices will increase by $1,000 for all Model Y trims on April 1.”
The Model Y currently starts at $45,380, including a $1,390 delivery fee. Add a non-refundable $250 “order fee” if you don’t want to buy a vehicle out of inventory but want one built to your specifications.
The Model Y was briefly the best-selling vehicle on the planet for one quarter last year. Available with two or three rows of seating, it boasts a range of up to 310 miles. Our expert test driver says it’s “a winning formula that combines impressive technology with practicality while also delivering an enjoyable driving experience.”
The Model Y is due for an update soon. Tesla doesn’t update its cars in traditional model year waves like most automakers. Instead, it changes minor parts and features on the fly, rarely announcing a significant styling update. Tesla has an update, codenamed Juniper, within the company, which we expect to see later this year.
Tesla Model Y Pricing:
All prices include the $1,390 destination fee. All three versions qualify for the federal government’s full $7,500 EV tax rebate, which has certain income limits.
