Tesla owners can once again earn a $500 discount on any Tesla product or service – including charging – for talking a friend into buying a Tesla. The friend gets $1,000 off their new car, too.
Tesla announced the return of its referral program on X, the social media platform owned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
The program gives Tesla owners $500 for supercharging, software upgrades, merchandise, or a new car when they refer a friend.
Owners can generate a referral link in the Tesla app to use the benefit. The friend can then use that link to place their order. Buyers who already own a Tesla vehicle do not qualify for the $1,000 discount.
The program has been an on-again, off-again benefit in Tesla history, disappearing and reappearing regularly. Benefits have changed frequently. At one point, top referrers were eligible for a free Roadster.
