Patriotism is hard to define, but you know it when you see it. For 23 years, Americans have agreed: Jeep is America’s single most patriotic brand. It beats blue jeans (Levi Strauss comes in third), Bourbon (Mr. Daniels, ninth), and Apple pie (the computer company took eighth).
The research firm Brand Keys has surveyed Americans to find the most patriotic consumer-goods brands for nearly a quarter of a century, and Jeep has never finished out of first place. The company surveyed 7,460 consumers age 18 to 65, “balanced for gender and political affiliation.”
Automakers took first and second, with Ford on the silver step.
Some shoppers value patriotism. Brand Keys notes that 41% of respondents found it “extremely” important, and another 39% found it “very” important.
It may also be more about impressions than reality. A recent study of where cars and their parts are built found Tesla the most American brand. Industry publication Automotive News notes that Tesla has not appeared in the top 50 of the Brand Keys survey since 2021.
Jeep, meanwhile, is part of Stellantis, headquartered in the Netherlands. Argentinian CEO Antonio Filosa took over from Frenchman Christian Meunier last year.
