One more automaker has joined the Sony Playstation Prix for Gran Turismo 6. The latest entry set to roll onto the burgeoning fantasy grid is the Subaru Viziv GT Gran Turismo. Unlike the radical Chevrolet Chaparral 2X VGT that debuted in the flesh at the Los Angeles Auto Show, this dramatically styled but decidedly virtual all-wheel-drive coupe has its basis in more conventional design, albeit one that delivers loads of hybrid power and features lightweight composite construction throughout to keep the theoretical curb weight to just 3,042 pounds.

The exterior of the Gran Turismo-spec Viziv GT borrows its basic visual language as well as several of its key styling cues from the automaker’s Viziv 2 Concept crossover that was revealed at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show. From its edgy front fascia and dramatically blistered fenders to a low-slung fastback roof treatment and aggressive spoiler coupled with a highly functional diffuser out back, the Viziv GT makes a bold graphic statement.

Backing its bad-boy look is a super-tuned 2.0-liter turbocharged/direct-injected flat-four gasoline engine that’s matched with a supplementary electric motor to provide motive force up front. That duo is linked with an additional motor at each rear wheel. Total system output is rated at 591 horsepower and 593 lb-ft of peak torque. While Subaru provided no theoretical performance figures, the Viziv GT Gran Turismo should possess both the quickness and the speed to hang with its racy rivals when the green flag waves. With its fully torque-vectorable AWD system, the automaker also promises the car will offer outstanding controllability at any speed. The Subaru Viziv GT Gran Turismo will be available to download once the next Gran Turismo update has been released later this year.
