For the 2023 model year, the Ram TRX will get a price bump of just $565. But that comes after several price increases pushed the truck’s sticker up by nearly $9,000 over the previous year.
About the Carnivore
The TRX (“T-Rex,” if you’re talking to a dedicated Ram fan) is perhaps the most extreme truck on the market.
With its 702-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V8, it’s the most powerful truck ever produced by a major manufacturer. It’s a Ram 1500 with every off-road suspension part in the Mopar catalog and the highest-horsepower engine available in a pickup. Our test driver called it “an off-road Hellcat of sorts, a rough-and-tumble pickup with superb long-travel suspension and a beefed-up 8-speed automatic transmission. The TRX hits 60 mph in only 4.5 seconds, and it likely can match that time on dirt.”
Ford launched the super-truck segment with its F-150 Raptor back in 2010 but hesitated to put such a boosted engine in the desert runner. It will finally answer Ram’s gauntlet for the 2023 model year with a V8-equipped Raptor R, but even that truck falls 2 horsepower short of the dinosaur’s power figure.
Regular Price Increases
When the TRX debuted for the 2021 model year, it carried a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of just under $70,000 (before destination charges). Since then, a series of price increases have pushed that figure to $78,790. Mopar Insiders reports that those drastic increases will stop, with Ram now asking $79,355 for the 2023 model (plus a $1,795 delivery fee in 49 states and $1,845 in Hawaii).
We’d be irresponsible if we didn’t note, however, that the intense demand for the T-Rex means it’s nearly impossible to find one without a significant markup.
Ram has made nearly no changes to the TRX for 2023 — unsurprising since most sell before they leave the factory. Ram’s website hasn’t started taking orders for the 2023 model, but dealerships have.
