Repeat Window Recall for Ford Ranger, Lincoln Nautilus

2024 Ford Ranger Lariat in Azure Grey Metallic

Ford and its Lincoln luxury brand are repeating part of an older recall affecting some Ford Ranger pickups and Lincoln Nautilus SUVs from the 2024 model year. The vehicles’ power windows can pinch fingers, and an earlier attempt to fix the problem may not have worked for some owners.

The company originally recalled more than 70,000 vehicles in 2024 because a software error meant that a safety feature designed to prevent pinches didn’t work if owners used a “global close” feature that closes all windows at once. Dealers fixed it with a software update.

Ford has since discovered a problem with the way it installed software updates. A tool dealers used to upload patches could sometimes report a successful installation even when the upload failed.

The company has been able to determine which specific vehicles had failed updates. So, it is repeating dozens of older recalls for small groups. This one affects just 1,168 of the original 70,000-plus, to repeat software uploads. Dealers have a new update system that should prevent failures.

They’ll fix this one by repeating the same software update with the new process. As with all recalls, the repair is free.
