Volkswagen and Audi have issued a recall for over 6,000 vehicles because their infotainment screens can go dark.
The list of recalled models is long, but only those built on certain dates are included. So, if you own one of these cars, it may not be included. The companies will notify owners through the mail.
Recalled vehicles include:

- 2021-2022 Audi A6 allroad
- 2021-2022 Audi e-tron Quattro
- 2022 Audi S3
- 2022 Audi RS Q8
- 2022 Audi RS 7
- 2022 Audi RS 6 Avant
- 2022 Audi Q8
- 2022 Audi Q7
- 2022 Audi Q3
- 2022 Audi e-tron Sportback Quattro
- 2022 Audi S5 Cabriolet
- 2022 Audi e-tron GT
- 2022 Audi S5 Sportback
- 2022 Audi A7
- 2022 Audi A6
- 2022 Audi A5 Sportback
- 2022 Audi A5 Cabriolet
- 2022 Audi A4
- 2022 Audi A4 allroad
- 2022 Audi A3
- 2022 Audi S8

The cars may have a defective voltage regulator in the electric loop for the screen. Under certain circumstances, shutting the car off can cause the screen to short out. Because the infotainment screen displays the backup camera image, this can cause a safety problem.
Dealers will replace the entire screen unit to fix the problem. Recall repairs are always free.
