Volkswagen has recalled nearly 16,000 Taos SUVs from the model year 2022 because their fuel pumps can fail, causing their engines to stall.
If the fuel pump fails, VW says, the check engine light may illuminate in the instrument panel. “In rare cases, there may be a sudden loss of engine power,” the company tells federal regulators.
If this issue sounds familiar, it’s because VW also recalled a large batch of 2022 Taos SUVs over sudden loss of power issues in 2021. The two problems are not related. If your Taos was part of that recall campaign, you might still need to bring it into the dealer for this one.
Dealers will replace the fuel delivery unit to fix the problem. Recall repairs are always free.
