Subaru has announced the recall of about 4,000 Impreza sedans and hatchbacks from model year 2023 because their brake lights can turn on even when the driver doesn’t touch the brake pedal.
In documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Subaru explains that a stop lamp switch may be “improperly adjusted,” allowing the brake lights to switch on “without application of the brake pedal.”
The company is not aware of any accidents or injuries caused by the problem.
Since it’s a simple matter of adjustment, dealers can fix the issue without any new parts. Technicians will adjust the switch to correct it.
