Volvo has issued a recall alert covering a small number of recently built vehicles with premium audio systems. The recall only affects 329 cars, all from the 2023 model year.
Affected models include the following:
- 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge
- 2023 Volvo S60
- 2023 Volvo V60 Cross Country
- 2023 Volvo XC40
- 2023 Volvo XC60
- 2023 Volvo XC90
Volvo recently updated the telematics system that monitors the vehicle for problems. The company has since found that vehicles equipped with a premium audio system sometimes display a false “e-call service required” message on the driver’s information screen when nothing is wrong.
There’s no danger in that, except that a warning light already signaling for no reason can’t alert you that something has gone wrong. “If there is an actual issue in the e-Call system, the driver will not get any extra warning other than the already displayed false message,” Volvo tells federal safety officials.
Dealers will fix the problem with a software update. Recall repairs are always free.
Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. They try to contact every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, but they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. To find out if your car is one of them, check the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
