Recall Alert: Ram Tailgates May Open While Driving

2022 Ram 1500 Big HornRam has issued a massive recall affecting more than 1.2 million trucks, full-size and heavy-duty, because their tailgates may fall open while driving.

Recalled models include some, but not all, 2019-2022 Ram 1500 full-size trucks and Ram 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty trucks.

Ram tells federal safety regulators that the tailgate strikers in the trucks may have been misaligned during assembly. Even if they worked properly at first, the vibrations of thousands of miles of driving might have caused them to slip out of alignment.

Dealers will inspect the alignment and adjust it if necessary. Recall repairs are always free.

Many cars are recalled, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
