Recall Alert: Nissan Leaf

2022 Nissan Leaf

Nissan has recalled about 58,000 Leaf electric cars from model years 2018 through 2022 because their rearview cameras may not display an image.

The company tells federal safety officials that repeatedly opening and closing the rear hatch can cause damage to a harness holding the camera. That causes “issues such as blurriness, distortion, multi-colored imagery, or in some cases, a blank screen.”

Not every Leaf sold during those years is recalled because some use a different harness or routing.

The company says it is still preparing a solution to the problem. When it’s ready, the fix will be free.

Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. Check the easy VIN tool at our recall center to determine if your car is one of them.
