Recall Alert: Mercedes-Benz C-Class

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class FrontMercedes-Benz has issued a recall for about 8,200 C-Class sedans, including some AMG models, from model years 2022 and 2023. The cars can lose drive power because of an electric problem in the transmission.

The company tells federal safety officials the problem is an improperly secured wiring harness. Because of a loose grounding bolt, the company says, the wires can overheat and suffer damage. Even in mild cases, that can cause loss of drive power. In a worst-case scenario, Mercedes says, “risk of fire cannot be ruled out completely.”

Dealers will inspect the harness and replace it if it has signs of wear.
