Recall Alert: Kia Stinger

2020 Kia Stinger GT2

Kia has issued a recall order for about 18,000 Stinger sport sedans from model years 2018-2021 because their fuel pumps can fail, causing a loss of drive power.

Kia tells federal car safety regulators, “Misalignment of the fuel control valve plunger in the high-pressure fuel pump can result in uneven wear.” Over time, that can cause the plunger to get stuck in the open position. That can cause “loss of motive power while driving at highway speeds.”

Dealers will inspect the fuel pumps and replace them if necessary. They will also update software logic to prevent complete loss of drive power should the problem occur.

Recall repairs are always free.

Manufacturers recall many cars at least once. They attempt to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all with the news. Find out if your vehicle needs any recall-related repairs at our recall center.
