Recall Alert: Jeep Wrangler 4xe, Grand Cherokee 4xe

Jeep is recalling more than 150,000 2020-2024 Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and 2022-2024 Grand Cherokee 4xe SUVs because of a new fire risk.

While 154,032 vehicles are potentially affected by this issue, Jeep says about 1% are estimated to actually have the defect. The defect is in the high-voltage battery pack, where some cells may be susceptible to damage. The damage can result in a fire while the vehicle is parked or driving.

Owners are advised to park the recalled vehicles outside and away from structures and not to recharge them until they are repaired. The repair will include software updates and potentially battery pack replacement. Owner notification letters will be sent on Oct. 17.

This recall follows a previous recall of some of the same affected vehicles. Vehicles repaired under the previous recall may need this repair as well.

Manufacturers make efforts to send recall notices to all affected owners. Still, some may not be notified. To check if your car has any outstanding recalls, use our easy recall VIN search tool.
