Recall Alert: Jeep Gladiator, Wrangler

2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon

Jeep has recalled 94 Gladiator pickups and Wrangler SUVs from the model year 2021, all equipped with manual transmissions because they can lose drive power. This is the second recall related to this issue. Like the first recall, it involves a software update.

Jeep says software designed to reduce engine revolutions per minute (RPM) during shifts can inadvertently stall the engine.

An earlier software update may not have fully fixed the issue. Jeep knows of no accidents, but there have been at least 35 field reports of vehicles stalling even after the first software update. So, dealers will install a second software patch to fix it.

These vehicles can’t receive over-the-air updates, so owners must bring them into a dealership for the download.

Automakers recall many cars, sometimes more than once, to fix problems like this. Manufacturers try to reach every owner to warn them. However, some may fall through the system’s cracks and are left unknowingly driving recalled cars. Check our easy recall tool to determine if your car has any outstanding recalls.
