Recall Alert: Hyundai Veloster Fire Risk

The 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo, seen from a front quarter angleHyundai has recalled about 26,000 Veloster hatchbacks from model years 2012-2013 because a short circuit in their reverse parking sensors can cause a fire.

In documents filed with federal safety regulators, Hyundai explains that liquid can get into the reverse parking sensors, triggering a short circuit. The problem can cause the transmission shifter to get stuck in Park. It can also shut down the rear parking sensors or even increase the risk of a fire.

Dealers will inspect the rear parking sensors and the fuse that sends power to them and replace both if necessary.
