Recall Alert: Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV, Kia Sorento PHEV Fuel Leak

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV seen in profileHyundai and Kia have issued a recall for a small number of 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and Kia Sorento PHEV SUVs dues to a possible fuel leak. The recall affects just 326 Santa Fe PHEVs and 34 Sorento PHEVs, all built on certain dates.

Because it may be difficult to determine the build date of your own car, owners can contact Hyundai at 1-855-371-9460 or Kia at 1-800-333-4542 if they don’t wish to wait for notice of the recall in the mail.

In documents filed with federal safety regulators, the companies explain that the two SUVs, which share many parts, may have an improperly welded seam in their fuel tanks. This poses the risk of a fuel leak and possibly a fire.

Dealers will inspect the fuel tanks and replace them if necessary. Recall repairs are always free.
