Hyundai and its Genesis luxury brand have recalled about 1,200 electric cars because their driveshafts can break, causing a loss of power.
Affected models include the following:
- 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5
- 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6
- 2023 Genesis GV60
Hyundai tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “The subject vehicles contain rear inner driveshafts that could fracture due to improper heat treatment. A fractured inner driveshaft could result in a sudden loss of motive power while driving.”
Dealers will replace both rear inner driveshafts to correct the problem. Recall repairs are always free.
Manufacturers recall many cars at least once. They attempt to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all with the news. Find out if your car needs any recall-related repairs at our recall center.
