Hyundai has issued a recall for model-year 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis, 2017-2020 Genesis G80, and 2019-2021 Genesis G70 vehicles, along with a warning that owners “should park their cars outside and away from homes, other structures and other flammable materials such as vegetation.”
The Genesis vehicles may have a defective anti-lock braking module that can short circuit and start a fire. The risk exists both while the car is driving and when it is parked with the engine off.
Dealerships will fix the issue for free by installing a new fuse rated at a lower amperage.
This is the second fire risk recall Hyundai has faced in 2021. Last month, the automaker recalled some Kona and Ioniq electric vehicles over the risk of a battery fire.
Many cars are recalled at some point in their functional lives. Automakers attempt to contact every owner to let them know to bring their car in for repairs, but they don’t always reach everyone. To find out if your vehicle has ever been recalled, visit our recall center.
