Recall Alert: Hyundai Elantra N, Kona N, Veloster N; Genesis G70

Hyundai and its Genesis luxury division have issued a recall for 54,647 vehicles that can lose power while driving.

The recall affects the following vehicles:

Hyundai tells federal safety regulators at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that a plunger inside the cars’ fuel pumps can wear away, allowing too much fuel to enter the engine. That feeds the engine a fuel/air mixture too rich to use, causing a loss of power.

Hyundai dealers will use a two-step process to fix the problem. They’ll update engine control software to help eliminate it. Then, they’ll inspect the fuel pump to see if the plunger remains intact. If necessary, they’ll replace the fuel pump.

Recall repairs are always free.

Many cars are recalled, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your car has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
