Recall Alert: Ford Maverick Camera Freezing

Ford has issued a recall for 144,516 Maverick pickups from model years 2022 through 2024 because their rearview cameras may freeze.

All the affected models are equipped with the Connected Touch Radio, Ford says. Ford is aware of 4 warranty claims and 22 complaints of frozen camera images.

The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the problem is software-related.

Dealers will fix the issue with a software update. Mavericks can’t receive software updates over the air, so owners must bring their trucks into the dealership for the patch, but software updates are among the quickest service appointments.

By law, dealers don’t charge for recall repairs.

Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. Check the easy VIN tool at our recall center to find out if your car is one of them.
