Ford and its Lincoln luxury marque have issued a recall for 2,418 vehicles that may develop an oil leak.
Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:
- 2024 Ford Expedition
- 2024-2025 Ford F-150
- 2024 Lincoln Navigator
All of the recalled models use a 3.5-liter V6 engine.
Ford tells federal safety regulators the engines “may have a misaligned engine cup plug at the rear of the engine, which can result in a rapid oil leak.” A machine that installs the plug was misaligned for several days in September, the company says.
Customers may see a low oil pressure warning light as the leak develops and could notice a burning smell or white smoke.
Ford is not aware of the problem happening to a customer. Technicians discovered it during an inspection at the factory.
Dealers will inspect the plug and install a new one if necessary. As with all recalls, the repair is free.
