Recall Alert: Ford Escape Passenger Side Airbags

2024 Ford Escape

Ford has recalled 15 Escape SUVs from model years 2024 and 2025 because their passenger-side airbags might not deploy correctly in an accident.

Ford tells federal safety officials at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that a supplier used “an incorrect mix of polyurethane materials” to build some dashboard instrument panels, resulting in a harder, more brittle surface than planned. As a result, “the airbag may not deploy as intended, increasing the risk of injury. The instrument panel also may fragment during deployment and project fragments toward the occupant, increasing the risk of injury.”

Ford is unaware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem that the supplier discovered at the factory.

Dealers will replace the instrument panel to fix the problem.
