Ford has issued a recall for about 7,500 Bronco SUVs from model years 2023 and 2024 because their rear quarter windows can fall off.
The Bronco is sold with several roof options. Every recalled model has a hardtop roof.
Ford tells federal safety officials that one of several operators building windows at a supplier failed to apply a coat of primer to some windows. That primer helps the window adhere properly. Since some Broncos lack it, their windows can loosen under the normal driving vibrations.
Ford is not aware that any customer windows have fallen out. But, since inspectors learned the primer is missing, engineers think they could.
To be safe, dealers will reapply the windows with all the required primers and adhesives. As with all recalls, the repair is free. Many cars are recalled, often more than once, during their lifespan.
