Parent company Stellantis tells federal safety regulators that, on certain dates, a factory robot may have created an “insufficient weld” in the electronics that control airbag deployment. The weld may be effective initially but degrade over time, allowing the wiring to pull apart.
Drivers might see an airbag warning light in the instrument cluster as the wires separate.
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the electronic control module in the steering column with a new one.
By law, recall repairs are always free.
Manufacturers try to reach every owner to warn them. However, some may fall through the system’s cracks and unknowingly drive recalled cars. Check our easy recall tool to determine if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls.
