General Motors has issued a recall order for more than 600,000 trucks and SUVs over a seatbelt defect. The recall affects vehicles with split-bench front seats from model years 2019 through 2021.
Affected vehicles include the 2019-2021 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup, and the 2019-2021 Chevy Suburban, Chevy Tahoe, and GMC Yukon SUVs. The vehicles may have an improperly installed seatbelt bracket in the center seat of the front row.
The recall notice warns that drivers may hear a rattling noise coming from the center seat area. They may also notice that the front center seatbelt has detached. But it is possible to have the problem even with no obvious signs, so owners should take the notice seriously. Recall repairs are free of charge.
