General Motors has recalled a small number of SUVs that may have a severe defect. The company believes that just 10 vehicles may be affected, all 2023 Cadillac XT5 or GMC Acadia SUVs.

In documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM says that the right-front axle half-shaft assemblies in the SUVs may not be fully connected to their transmissions. That could cause them to “separate from the transmission under certain load conditions.”

GM notes that a car that could eject half an axle faces an “increased risk of a crash or roll-away.”

Dealers will replace the entire passenger-side front axle assembly to fix the problem.
