BMW has issued a recall alert for 318 7 Series sedans from model year 2023 because their front seats’ length-adjustment systems may not be properly welded.
“In certain crashes, if the structural integrity was not maintained, this could increase the risk of injury,” the automaker tells federal safety regulators.
The company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem. Engineers discovered it when a seat moved more than anticipated during internal safety testing.
Dealers will inspect the seats and, if necessary, replace the front seat structure, including the adjustment system.
