Recall Alert: 2025 Chevy Equinox EV

2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV

Chevrolet has issued a recall order for 2,890 Equinox EVs from model year 2025 because their automatic emergency braking systems may not function properly when cruise control is active. The recall only affects cars without Chevy’s Super Cruise hands-free highway driving system.

The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that, due to a software problem, the vehicle might detect a need to slow down but not actually engage the brakes to do so.

Chevrolet is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem, which an engineer discovered while testing a vehicle.

Dealers will update the software to fix the problem. Some Equinox EVs can receive the update over the air, Chevrolet says, but most of those remain on dealer lots. Most owners will need to bring their Equinox EV to the dealership to have the problem corrected. Software updates are typically quick service appointments.

Recall repairs are free by law. Automakers make efforts to notify the owners of every affected car but can’t always reach everyone. To find out if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls, try our easy VIN search tool at our recall center.
