Acura has recalled 9,221 MDX SUVs from model year 2025 because their screens may not show an image from their rearview cameras.
There’s nothing wrong with the cameras themselves. The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that software powering the screen contains “a programming defect which occurs when the transmission is shifted out of reverse and into another drive position within a certain time. When the center information display unit attempts to change out of the reverse camera image, the unit mistakenly interprets the signal as an internal error, resulting in a black screen, despite shifting the transmission back into reverse.”
Still, dealers will fix the issue by replacing the screen itself.
