Chevrolet has ordered dealers to stop selling Corvette models temporarily and issued a recall for 13,464 of the sports cars from model years 2024 and 2025 because of a seatbelt defect.
The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the factory built some cars with faulty seatbelt retractors. These retractors can lock the belts, so they can’t extend enough to fasten.
GM is unaware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem.
To fix the problem, dealers will replace both car seatbelt retractors. Once dealers have fixed the models on their lots, they can begin selling them again.
